Bunion Correctors

Bunion correctors are a commonly used approach to “correct” bunions. They are splints or braces that you wear at night to try and correct the alignment of the big toe in order to try and fix the bunion.

There is debate if they can actually correct bunions or not. Bunions are caused by a combination of pressure from poorly fitted footwear in those who have an inherited risk. The problem with using a bunion corrector as a night splint is that it has to overcome the daily force from the shoes pushing the big toe back in the other direction. That means it can be a long slow process to actually see any improvement.
